LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Tuesday warned Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to resign by Dec 31 or else he would announce his future course of action.
Addressing a press conference here, Qadri asked former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and law minister Rana Sanaullah to surrender before the end of this month.
Of late, the major opposition parties called on the PAT chief at his residence in Model Town in the wake of release of an inquiry report into the Model Town incident and announced support for whatever line of action he announced to press for his demands, including resignation of Shehbaz and Sanaullah.
Earlier, Qadri had hinted at taking to the streets and said the time frame for street agitation will be sooner than later. It is still anybody’s guess as to what line of action he would take after Dec 31.
Qadri told the media that he could not wait further for provision of justice to the victims of the Model Town incident. The victims had been running from pillar to post to get justice, but all in vain, he added.
Taking aim at Nawaz Sharif, he said the former prime minister has once again severely criticized the judiciary, which is tantamount to a rebellion [against the state].
He alleged that the ruling party was creating an environment of a revolt against the state.
