Pervez Khattak scraps plan of building swimming pool after public backlash

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Thursday has taken back his decision to build swimming pool inside Chief Minister House after public uproar garnered by a tender advertisement published to construct a swimming pool.

Claiming that the construction has been used by groups for political gains, the CM House issued a statement announcing the cancellation of the project.

Meanwhile, the CM secretariat said that it was a part of planning to change KP CM house into an official guest house while commenting on revocation of constructing swimming pool decision.

“The plan has now been scrapped,” he said.

He further said that Pervez Khattak has been living at a house next to CM House.

It merits to mention here that Pervez Khattak had published a tender for construction of a swimming pool at CM House, which drew backlash on social media.

Peshawar district administration had already imposed Section-144 on a building of swimming pools to curb dengue outbreak.
