Pillion-riding banned in Karachi, Hyderabad on 21st Ramadan

KARACHI: The Sindh government has imposed ban on pillion-riding in Karachi and Hyderabad on 21st Ramazan, Youm-e-Ali, for security of the mourning processions.

The ban has been imposed for 24 hours after applications were received by the Home Department from the high officials of Karachi Police and Hyderabad Police.

Journalists, women and old people are exempted from this ban.

Youm-e-Ali is the day of martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA). The day is observed every year on 21st of Ramazan with religious fervour amid tight security. Majalis and processions are held to pay homage to the fourth caliph of Muslims.
