ISLAMABAD: Mayor of London Sadiq Khan on Thursday called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at the PM House.
PM Abbasi welcomed him and said that every Pakistani is proud of his election as Mayor of London and prays for his success. Sadiq Khan is on a three-day visit to Pakistan as part of the ‘London is Open’ promotional tour.
PM Abbasi said Pakistan gives great importance to its close and cooperative relations with the United Kingdom especially in trade and investment.
He briefed the Mayor on the excellent opportunities for trade and investment in Pakistan. He said that successful counter-terrorism efforts have made Pakistan an opportune destination for British businesses.
Sadiq Khan said that he was impressed by the remarkable progress achieved by the government in different areas particularly in infrastructure, technology and energy.
He assured the prime minister that he would work towards fostering closer links between London and Pakistan.
Earlier, the London Mayor had a busy day in Islamabad as he met business leaders to discuss how together ways to promote London and Pakistan’s links in trade, investment, education, tourism and culture.

The London Mayor is on a three-day visit of Pakistan. He arrived in Lahore on Wedesday from Wagah border and met with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
He also visited the iconic Badshahi mosque and the tomb of Allama Iqbal saying that he “enjoyed the opportunity to experience the sense of stillness and serenity in this historic place of worship.”
“Like London, culture is the DNA of Lahore – it’s the glue that binds the city together,” he tweeted and thanking Mayor of Lahore Mubashir Javed for hosting a fantastic cultural event on his arrival in Pakistan.
