PM briefed on security situation in Balochistan

QUETTA: Prime Minister Imran Khan along with Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan and lead federal ministers on Saturday visited Southern Command headquarters at Quetta.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa received the PM at Quetta air base. A detailed briefing on security situation of the province, challenges and response was given.

The prime minister was also briefed about socio-economic development based Khushal Balochistan program, security of China Pakistan Economic Projects (CPEC) projects, and progress of fencing along Pak-Afghan border.

Gen Bajwa said that having achieved stability in troubled areas of Khyber Pakthunkhwa, the focus has been on Balochistan which is economic future of Pakistan.

PM Imran acknowledged and appreciated contributions of security forces towards improving peace, stability and socio-economic development of the province.

He said that through a comprehensive national effort, cooperation between federal and provincial governments and assistance of army, they shall realise the true potentials of Balochistan.

He said that only a cohesive national effort shall take provinces and the country to the rightful destination of peace, progress and prosperity.
