ISLAMABAD/ABUJA: Prime Minister Imran Khan has telephoned Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari where they exchanged views on the current situation amid coronavirus pandemic, ARY News reported on Thursday.
PM Khan and the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari held discussions over coronavirus crisis, regional situation and matters of mutual interests during the telephonic conversation.
They also exchanged views on economic challenges being faced by both countries and other regional states due to COVID-19.

The premier said that Pakistan and Nigeria were facing almost same scenario amid COVID-19. He showed solidarity with the Nigerian government and nation for fighting the virus. He also apprised President Muhammadu Buhari regarding Pakistan’s step to curb the spread of COVID-19.
He said that the developing countries were facing dual challenges after
coronavirus as they have to save lives of people besides fighting poverty and hunger. PM Khan praised the steps taken by the United Nations (UN), International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other stakeholders to relieve pressure on the developing countries by relaxing loan payments.Read: PM Imran Khan expresses hope for strengthened Pakistan-EU partnership
During the conversation, PM Khan held a talk with President Buhari regarding the loan relief steps. Both sides have agreed to expedite efforts for advancement in joint targets besides expressing satisfaction over the current state of bilateral ties between Pakistan and Nigeria.
They also agreed to increase bilateral contacts in the trade and economic fields. PM Khan invited the Nigerian president to visit Pakistan.
President Buhari supported the premier’s campaign for loan relief to the developing countries amid COVID-19 crisis.
