Sharif was received by Uzbek Prime Minister Shafqat Marziaov and Foreign Minister Abdul Aziz Kamaliov at the airport. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with his Uzbek counterpart at the airport in Tashkent in which bilateral matters were discussed, a statement issued by the Prime Minister House said.
A high-level delegation comprising Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Advisor on Aviation Shujaat Azeem and other senior officials are accompanying Nawaz Sharif on the visit.
Sharif, during his two-day official visit, will meet with Uzbek President Islam Karimov and other government leaders in Tashkent.
The talks between the two sides will focus on enhancing cooperation in the fields of energy, trade, culture, regional connectivity, tourism and people-to-people contacts.
