LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah on Tuesday said that his party should not stop from fielding its own candidate against estranged party leader and former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, ARY News reported.
Speaking exclusively to ARY News, Rana Sanaullah said that party leadership was trying to address his grievances but Nisar has himself taken things to a point of no-return after his Monday speech.
“I don’t think a single PML-N supporter will vote for Nisar after his (Monday) speech,” said Rana Sanaullah.
The former Punjab law minister said that Nisar wanted a party ticket despite going against the party policy and not even applying for ticket like other candidates.

“If his campaign should start from bashing PML-N, then party must provide its voters and supporters with some alternative,” said Rana Sanaullah.
He also claimed that Nisar’s campaign has already strengthened the rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ghulam Sarwar Khan.
It is pertinent to note here that speaking during a rally in Chakri town of Punjab on Monday, former PML-N stalwart Chaudhry Nisar had said that Mian Nawaz Sharif was chosen to lead PML-N not because of seniority or better political acumen but because of some “political elders’ wish”.
Nisar maintained that PML-N formally started its political journey in the year 1993 and some political “elders” decided that Mian Nawaz Sharif should lead the movement “not because he was more capable or had strong political acumen”.
“I have lifted their political burden for 34 years. I am not indebted to them (Sharifs), rather they and their family are indebted to me,” Nisar had said.
The former PML-N stalwart Chaudhry Nisar submitted his nomination papers as an independent candidate for four seats – two National Assembly and two Punjab Assembly seats.
The nomination papers were submitted with the Election Commission of Pakistan Rawalpindi office for NA-59 (Rawalpindi), NA 63 (Taxila) and Punjab Assembly’s PP-10 and PP-12.
The new constituency of NA-59 comprises areas such as Chakri, Chontra, Saddar Baironi, Adiyala, Rawat and other areas.
