JAMSHORO: CIA police on Tuesday foiled a bid to smuggle weapons during a raid in Jamshoro and arrested three suspects, ARY News reported.
CIA police intercepted a trailer near Old Toll Plaza and recovered 26 9-mm pistols and 72 magazines.
Jamshoro Senior Superintendent Police Toqir Naeem said the arrested suspects had been identified as Ibrahim Khan, Mohammed Riaz and Khalidur Rehman Afridi. He said efforts were underway to arrest a fugitive, Noman Afridi.
Toqir Naeem said the suspects were members of an inter-provincial group. They were involved in smuggling foreign weapons in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan, he said.

The police officer said they used to provide illegal arms to criminal elements by smuggling.
On March 23, police had arrested three suspects, involved in supplying of arms and ammunition, red-handed here in Azizabad.
Police had said the culprits were shifting weapons on a vehicle, while they were caught. They had smuggled arms from tribal areas earlier as well, they had added.
The law enforcers had said they had recovered two 9-mm guns and a rifle from possession of the captured criminals.
Police had said the suspects had admitted to selling more than 25 kinds of weapons in Karachi.
