PPP, PTI & Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) rejects increase in fuel prices

KARACHI : Foremost political parties, including Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) & Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Sunday has rejected the hike in petroleum products’ prices.

Vital figures of the parties have provided their statements against their rejection for this decision and has demanded interim government to take back the decision, as it will affect the economical stability of an individual.

Ex opposition leader, Khurshid Shah of National Assembly has requested the interim government to take back this decision, he also urged to provide maximum relief to the nation.

According to his statement, “We reject the increases in petrol, diesel and kerosene oil prices. Caretaker government should not follow in the footsteps of the former government and immediately withdraw the hike in prices.”

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Balochistan, Ameer Maulana Abdul Hashmi has also condemned on the act of price hike of petroleum.

Hashmi has asked the Supreme Court (SC) to provide the basis for such action, and demanded SC to make sure to take back the decision in order to ease people who are already distressed due to current situation of price hike and rising inflation.

He said, “The interim government has put another additional burden on the shoulders of the already depressed people. This move is tantamount to burying them alive. Furthermore, in its minimum tenure, the interim government has increased prices of fuel twice.”

The general elections 2018 are just some days away, and the caretaker government had hiked fuel prices for the second time during their tenure.

The petroleum price has reached Rs99.50 per liter after an increase of Rs7.54 per liter while the cost of high-speed diesel has recorded as Rs119.31 after a hike of Rs14.

Light diesel will be sold at Rs80.89 after Rs5.92 increase while kerosene price has become Rs87.70 after Rs3.36 hike.
