PPP set for power show in Karachi

Today also marks the 7th anniversary of Karsaz tragedy in which nearly 150 people were killed in twin blasts at Karsaz area of Karachi during former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s return to boost the struggle for restoration of democracy.

Earlier, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had announced that he will kick start his political career by staging a rally in Karachi. The party chairman, in his twitter message, said that he has started the journey for the people, martyrs and his mother.

The party leadership has said that hundreds of thousands of people will attend the public gathering and thousands of seats have been placed at the rally venue. Party workers and supporters, commonly known as Jiyalas, are arriving in groups to attend the party’s gathering. Panaflexes and banners of PPP are also placed across the city.

It should be noted that strict security measures have been taken for the party’s public meeting in the metropolis. The roads leading to the venue have been sealed by containers and the citizens have been forced to take alternate routes to their destinations.

Petrol pumps around Jinnah Ground have also been closed due to security concerns.

Thousands of police officers have been deployed for security whereas Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and sniffer dogs are searching the area for any explosives planted at or around the rally venue.

Special security measures have been adopted for the PPP leaders whereas jammers are also being placed around the rally venue.
