PTI’s win in by-elections shows people’s trust in party: minister

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar has said the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) win in by-elections shows the people of the country have fully reposed trust in the party.

The minister in a statement extended gratitude to the people of the provincial assembly constituency (PK-261) for electing PTI’s Fawad Ahmed in Sunday’s by-polls.

He said people have shown their determination to bring about change in the country as it is facing numerous challenges.

The minister reiterated that corruption would be eradicated and revolutionary change would soon be apparent in the country.

By-polls in 35 constituencies of national and provincial assemblies were held across the country on Sunday.

A total of 370 candidates were in the run for by-elections in 35 constituencies of national and provincial assemblies, out of which 218 candidates had contested from Punjab, 57 from Sindh, 59 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 36 from Balochistan.

According to unofficial results, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) managed to grab four NA seats each while PML-Q surprised everyone by winning two NA seats. MMA’s Zahid Durrani emerged victorious from NA-35 Bannu.
