QUETTA: At least five suicide bombers were killed as Frontier Corps’ personnel responded to a terrorist attack on a FC Madadgar Centre in Quetta city of Balochistan province on Thursday, ARY News reported.
According to details, at least five terrorists stormed a FC Madadgar Centre located in Survey 31 area near Chaman Housing Society in Quetta; three of them blew themselves up while the other two were killed during clash with FC personnel who responded to the attack with full force.
Four FC personnel sustained injuries during the attack.
“An explosive and ammunition laden vehicle with 5 SBs (suicide bombers) tried to enter Help centre. Vigilant FC soldiers fired at terrorists and stopped their entry. All terrorists killed,” Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
The ISPR added that the suicide bombers were apparently Afghan nationals.
“Failed terrorists attempt was response to killing of their key terrorists last night in Kili Almas,” reads the statement.
Just yesterday, security forces raided the Killi Almas village on the outskirts of Quetta based on a tip that there were suicide bombers hiding there and killed three militants including Salman Badeni, the provincial commander of militant group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ).
Badeni — described by authorities as a “high-value target” — was wanted for his involvement in the killing of more than 100 people, including policemen and members of the minority Hazara community.
During the raid, Colonel Sohail Abid of Military Intelligence (MI) embraced martyrdom.
Back in January, six people including five police officers were killed after a terrorist blew himself up on Zarghoon Road of the city.
In December 2017, a suicide attack on the city’s Bethel Memorial Methodist Church left at least nine people dead and 43 others injured. In November, police officer lost his life in a gun attack on the city’s Nawan Kali area.
Gunmen kill 60 in attack on Quetta police training center
In one of the deadliest attacks in the city’s history, in October 2016, terrorists wearing suicide jackets killed at least 60 police cadets in an attack on Quetta’s police training center.
Five to six terrorists had stormed into the police training centre at Sariyab Road and targeted at least 60 security officials after taking them hostage under the cover of aerial fire.
