PTI raises transparency concerns in Pak-China projects

Vice President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Shah Mehmood Qureshi while addressing a press conference in Islamabad today expressed reservations on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

“At one side, government is declaring economic corridor as ‘game changer’ for Pakistan but on the other side the project was finalized without taking all political parties on board”, he said.

PTI leader complained that actual details of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed with the Chinese government were only known to dozen of MPAs including CM Punjab.

“At the time of agreement only CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif was present,” he said.

Qureshi also expressed concern for PTI not being invited on the luncheon hosted for Chinese dignitaries.

Reacting to PML-N’s claim for signing $46 billion agreements with China as incumbent government’s achievement, Qureshi said only one party cannot be given credit for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as the talks for the project initiated during the regime of former President General Rtd. Pervez Musharraf.
