Rainfall brings temperature down in Pakistan’s upper parts

KARACHI: Rainfall and hailstorms in the upper parts of Pakistan broke the distressing heatwave, bringing some relief to people battered by intense temperatures amid prolonged powers cuts in the fasting month of Ramazan, ARY News reported.

The hailstorm and rain in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sargodha, Peshawar and some other parts of the country brought the mercury level down much to the relief of the people reeling under the sizzling heatwave for weeks.

More rains in these parts of the country are expected in the next two to three days, said the meteorological department. Westerly wave is likely to enter and persist in the upper parts of the country during the next two to three days, an official of the met department said.

The weatherman said thunderstorm with rain and gusty winds expected at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad division, FATA, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir. However, the rest of the country will remain in the grip of hot and dry weather.

Light drizzle in Karachi turned the weather pleasant in the wee hours of Tuesday, but, according to the weatherman, hot and humid weather is likely to persist as the mercury level will touch 36 degrees centigrade today.
