‘Reema Lagoo’: Bollywood’s favourite mother passes away in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Veteran Indian actress Reema Lagoo who worked extensively in the Hindi and Marathi cinema world for the last four decades passed away on Thursday morning. She was 58.

Lagoo had been hospitalised after a heart-attack​, breathed her last at Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai.

Born in 1958, Lagoo was well-known for her role in Hum Aapke Hai Kaun and the serial Tu-Tu Mein-Mein. She was also part of films such as Saajan, Vaastav, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, to name a few.

In the 1970-80’s Lagoo worked in Marathi theatre and then entered into the Marathi film industry and Bollywood.

Reema was married to actor Vivek Lagoo. She is survived by daughter Mrunmayee Lagoo.

Over the course of her career, she played the mother’s role opposite some of the biggest stars in the industry like Salman Khan (Maine Pyar Kiya), Akshay Kumar (Jai Kishan), Sridevi (Gumrah), Madhuri Dixit (Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!) and Shah Rukh Khan (Kal Ho Naa Ho).

She is a winner of four Filmfare Awards for best supporting actress.
