Sarfraz Ahmed has represented Pakistan in 21 T20 internationals and scored 291 runs in which 76 is his highest score.
The wicket keeper batsman has experience in captaincy. He led the Quetta Gladiators side in the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) where his side lost to Islamabad United in the final.
The decision was made after Shahid Afridi stepped down as Pakistan’s T20 captain.
Afridi stepped down from T20 captaincy following his side’s dismal show in the 2016 World Twenty20 in India. The green shirts only managed to beat Bangladesh in the tournament but lost to India, New Zealand and Australia in the mega event.
