ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court on Monday rejected an election appeal of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah against the decision of the election tribunal, ARY News reported.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Saqib Nisar also directed the Sindh High Court to decide the case soon.
Syed Ghous Ali Shah, the rival candidate in PS-29 Khairpur, had in a plea claimed rigging in the election of the provincial constituency PS-29 in Khairpur.
He pleaded to the election tribunal for votes verification in the constituency.
The votes were verified by the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA). The results of the votes verification process was challenged by Syed Qaim Ali Shah in Supreme Court pleading that the process of verification was not transparent. He had pleaded to the court for declaring the election tribunal’s decision as null and void.Syed Qaim Ali Shah had also pleaded for a stay order against the decision of the tribunal.
The court rejected the plea for stay and ordered the Sindh High Court to decide the case soon.
