Bomb blast in Afghan school leaves eight students, cleric dead

KABUL:  Classroom bomb blast in Parwan province of Afghanistan leave eight children and an ulema council leader dead on Tuesday morning.

According to Afghan media reports, head of the Parian Ulema Council, Maulvi Abdul Rahim Shah Hanafi, was among the deceased.

As soon as the students gathered in the classroom, the bomb exploded, reports said.

A number of people were also injured in the explosion

, officials said.

The bomb device was reportedly placed inside a classroom and was detonated early Tuesday while the students were busy in class.

No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the blast yet.

Parwan is among the most volatile provinces in northern Afghanistan where Taliban insurgents are active and carry out frequent suicide attacks and bombings.
