SFA seals three water plants over unhygienic conditions in Karachi

KARACHI: The Sindh Food Authority (SFA) has sealed three water plants in its recent raids in various parts of Karachi, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

As per details, the raids were carried out at water plants in city’s area of Nazimabad and North Nizamabad, where three of the plants were sealed over poor hygienic conditions.

The four water plants were asked to get their licenses from the Sindh Food Authority.

In another raid at a confectionery factory situated in Korangi Industrial area, the SFA team slapped a fine of Rs 100,000, after finding expired items in the premises and lack of cleanness arrangements.

Meanwhile, a milk shopkeeper was also fined for Rs 10,000 over substandard hygienic conditions.

On February 23, a SFA team raided Fresco Bakery located on Burns Road and sealed it after finding unhygienic food conditions at its kitchen. It also sealed Waheed Kabab House for flouting hygiene standards and using meat unfit for human consumption.

The eatery was previously served notices on three occasions and fined Rs40, 000 last month, the SFA deputy director said, adding that it was sealed after it failed to improve hygienic conditions despite warnings.
