Govt committed to give due share of net hydel profit to provinces: Khusro Bakhtiar

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtiar  here on Wednesday said that the current government was committed to give due share of net hydel profit to the provinces.

Presiding over a meeting to deliberate upon the issue of net hydel profits, Bakhtiar expressed optimism to resolve all outstanding issues regarding determination of hydel profits which was required to be paid to the province where a hydel power station was located as per provision of the constitution under Article 161 (2).

It was decided to hold another meeting in a week to further deliberate on the matter in detail and work out the solution in the light of decision of Council of Common Interests.

The meeting discussed the report of technical sub-committee which had been constituted under the chairmanship of secretary power division to ponder over the issue of determination of rates and net profits.

Earlier on March 20, a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet had held with then finance minister Asad Umar in chair.

The ECC meeting had deliberated on an agenda including an approval of additional grant for federal educational, professional training and net hydel profit for AJK.
