LAHORE: PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday slammed the PTI government for jacking up prices of electricity, gas as well as fertilisers and doing away with subsidies provided to growers by the previous government.
Speaking to media here, he said the government has unleashed the worst oppression in its first 20 days.
The PML-N leader said his party’s government had eliminated load-shedding in the country, but power cuts have returned as people in urban as well rural areas face extended hours of load-shedding.
In reaction to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s appeal to donate funds for construction of dams in the country, he said former premier Nawaz Sharif had already spent Rs122 billion on Basha dam and purchased land for it.
He said there is no need to collect funds for dam’s power system as investors in the country or abroad can be invited to invest for the purpose and work on it could be started without further delay.
Shehbaz said PM Khan had assured him of formation of a parliamentary commission to probe alleged rigging in the July 25 polls. But, he lamented, despite passage of three weeks the commission has not been formed.
He hoped that Mr Khan soon fulfill his promise and will not add to what he said his U-turns.
The PML-N said they will not allow the parliamentary proceedings move ahead unless the commission is appointed.
