Sindh announces public holiday on April 4

In a notification issued this evening, the provincial government announced the holiday on account of 37th death anniversary of Z.A. Bhutto.

“All offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils under the administrative control of Sindh government will remain closed on April 4, except essential services,” read the notification.

Revered as Quaid-i-Awam, Z.A. Bhutto served as the prime minister of Pakistan from 1973 to 1977.

After being deposed by General Zia-ul-Haq in 1977, Bhutto was sentenced to death in a controversial court judgment charging him with the murder of a political rival and hanged at Rawalpindi’s Adiyala prison on April 4, 1979.
