Sindh LG by-elections: Polling in 15 districts concludes

KARACHI: The polling for Sindh LG by-elections in 15 districts concluded amid strict security measures, ARY News reported on Sunday.

The polling was held for multiple seats including Chairman, Vice Chairman, Member District Council, and General Members.

A total of 81 polling stations was set up across the districts, including 21 separate stations for men and 22 for women as well as 38 combined stations.

The repolling is taking place in Jacobabad, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Larkana, Qamber Shahdadkot, Sukkur, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, and Badin.

The polling that began at 8 am was continued till 5pm without any break.

The electoral watchdog has taken necessary steps to ensure fair and transparent elections by conducting the revote in response to allegations of misconduct during the previous local government elections held in 15 districts of Sindh.

Three control rooms have been set up at the Election Commission of Pakistan to address the complaints of the people during by-elections.

The move aims to address the concerns and allegations of irregularities in the previous elections.
