LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday presided over a high-level meeting at his office to review performance of the provincial transport department.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said the Speedo Bus Services will be extended to other cities of southern Punjab.
He directed the transport department to review the proposed launch of the Speedo Bus Service in DG Khan, Kot Addu, Multan, Muzaffargarh and Taunsa on the pattern of Lodhran and Bahawalpur and a feasibility report be presented in this regard.
The CM reviewed different proposals for the bus service to attract as many passengers as possible.
The meeting proposed that passengers should also be allowed to travel in Speedo buses in Lahore without card and fare should be collected after passengers board a bus.
He said that all aspects of the proposal should be examined and an increase in the number of passengers will only be possible after permission to travel without cards and more people will travel by these buses.
He said that work should be started to take necessary steps for starting modern buses in Faisalabad as it is the third largest city in Pakistan and PTI government is committed to provide modern transport facilities to the people living there.
The provincial secretary transport gave a briefing about departmental affairs.
Provincial Transport Minister Muhammad Jehanzeb Khan Khichi, Punjab Mass Transit Authority Managing Director and others attended the meeting.
