Supreme Court’s Registrar shuns hearing of PAC

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court’s Registrar and Principal Accounts Officer, failed to appear before the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

A session of the PAC chaired by its Chairman Noor Alam Khan held today. The PAC had summoned the principal accounts officer for the Supreme Court’s accounts.

The National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) had summoned Supreme Court’s (SC) registrar on May 16 (today) as it decided to conduct an audit of the apex court from 2010-2021.

“Absence of the Registrar despite being summoned by the PAC is regretful,” Noor Alam Khan said.

Registrar Supreme Court, Ishrat Ali, in a letter to the PAC said, he could not appear, as the matter has been sub-judice.

A report submitted to the PAC informed the parliament committee about salaries of the top state officials.

According to the report, Chief Justice of Pakistan have a salary package of Rs. 15,27,399 per month. The President gets Rs. 8,96,550 and the Prime Minister 2,01,574 rupees.

Federal Ministers get 3,38,000 rupees, while government of Grade-22 have a salary package of 5,91,475 rupees.

A member of the National Assembly receives 1,88,000 rupees and a Supreme Court judge gets 14,70,000 rupees salary per month.

PAC chairman also urged for action against those who attacked the government properties on May 09. He also stressed the need of stern action against the Afghan nationals involved in May 09 attacks.
