Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has recently been elected (unopposed) as the Chief Minister of Balochistan province of Pakistan. Bizenjo, who has been elected for the second time as CM, has been a member of Balochistan since November 2002.
Born on Jan 1, 1974 in Awaran district of Balochistan, Bizenjo is the son of veteran politician Abdul Majeed Bizenjo. He received early education in his native town, Later in the year 2000, he received received a master’s degree in English from the University of Balochistan.
Bizenjo was elected as MPA first time in 2002 from PB-41 Awaran before being sworn in as Balochistan’s minister for livestock and dairy development. He retained the same portfolio in former CM Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani’s cabinet.
In January 2018, Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo took oath as the Chief Minister of Balochistan after his predecessor, ruling PML-N’s Sanaullah Zehri stepped down ahead of a no-confidence motion against him.
It was reported in several media outlets at that time that Bizenjo also had support of disgruntled members of ruling PML-N and JUI-F for election as CM.
Later, he became one of the founding members of Balochistan Awami Party headed by Jam Kamal Khan which won majority seats in Balochistan in 2018 General Elections and elected its chief Jam Kamal as CM.
In October 2021, Jam Kamal resigned as the CM following turmoil within the party and the cabinet. The BAP leadership later nominated Bizenjo as CM who was elected unopposed on October 29, 2021.
