The Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) is the pension, old age benefits and social insurance institution of the Government of Pakistan. It operates under the control of Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.
It was established in 1976, through the passage of the Employees Old Age Benefits Institution Act of 1976 by the Parliament of Pakistan, under the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPP) under the government of Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
EOBI works on the halfway funded premise. The safeguarded individual just as the business of the protected individual should make commitment to EOBI during the time of insurable employment.
Employers should pay 5% of the base wages endorsed by the government while workers should pay 1% of the base wages. This commitment comprises half of the absolute commitment while staying half originates from the Government of Pakistan.
