ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua on Tuesday praised the role of the international community in defusing tension between Pakistan and India, Radio Pakistan reported.
These views she expressed while addressing an international conference on ‘Shanghai Cooperation Organization: Future Prospects and Regional Connectivity organized by Center for Global and Strategic Studies in Islamabad here, today.
Janjua said Pakistan responded with determination and patience to Indian provocation.
Terming the resolution of Kashmir dispute indispensable for peace in the region, the foreign secretary contented that Pakistan desires resolution of the lingering dispute through dialogue and in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
Alluding to the situation in Afghanistan, Tehmina Janjua said durable peace in the country is only impossible through intra-Afghan dialogue.

She said the Afghan people themselves have to decide their future and Pakistan is always ready to facilitate the Afghan peace and reconciliation process.
The situation between the neighbouring countries turned hostile in a tit-for-tat airstrikes following the Pulwama attack that killed over 40 Indian troops in occupied Kashmir on Feb 14.
Taking notice of the sensitive of the situation United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterress, China and Russia offered mediation role to de-esclate tensions between the two nuclear armed neighbours of the South Asia.
