At least 63 children have died due to lack of food supply and malnutrition.
The shortage of medicine in the government run hospitals is also proving to a factor in the death of the children.
Sindh Government, on the other hand, has claimed that they are not responsible for the fatalities in the district.
Maula Bakhsh Chandio, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, said that the provincial government is not to be held responsible if a child dies in a Thar village.
He had said that it is entirely Almighty’s will if a child dies whereas the infant mortality rate has lowered in the district and adjoining areas as compared to past year.
Volunteers of different Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) working in the district have said that the rulers have failed to fulfill their promises.
