Three suspects involved in killing of cops arrested: Police

KARACHI: Police arrested three suspected terrorists on Sunday morning here for allegedly involved in attacks on policemen, ARY News reported.

Claiming it a major breakthrough, police said the suspects were involved in ongoing target killings of Policemen.

According to sources, the suspects were identified as Irfanullah, Liaquat, and Nasir whose locations were traced through their mobile phones.

Police have accused the suspects of attacking policemen. They were allegedly involved in target killings of a traffic police official on Abul Hassan Isphani road and three other policemen in Awami Colony.

In subsequent of arrests, raids are being conducted in different areas of the city to nab other members of the group. However, no further details were shared with regard to motive behind the attacks.

Attacks on Policemen

It is worth mentioning here that an unexpected rise in attack on policemen was witnessed last month (July). A traffic police personnel was martyred while another injured in an attack by unidentified armed assailants on July 24 on Abul Hassan Isphani road of the metropolis.

The assailants also stole and MP-5 SMG from the traffic officials.

It was the second attack in similar nature after a span of week. Prior to it, three policemen were martyred on July 21 when armed assailants targeted their vehicle in Korangi area of Karachi.

The unidentified armed assailants on motorcycles opened fire on a vehicle of Awami Colony Police Station in Korangi area, leaving two policemen and a 10-year old kid dead on the spot. Another cop was injured during the gun attack who succumbed to his wounds in the hospital during medical treatment.

Earlier on June 23, four policemen were martyred in a gun attack in Karachi’s SITE area when they were breaking their fast near Siemens Chowrangi.
