Two cops shot at, injured near Karachi’s SITE Super Highway

KARACHI: Two policemen sustained bullet wounds during a shootout with alleged criminals near SITE Super Highway early on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

According to police, the injured policemen were identified as Tariq and Abid Kausar. They were on a routine patrol when they signaled bikers to stop but they didn’t and tried to flee, opening fire at the personnel.

As a result, they both suffered wounds. The injured cops were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital from where they were later shifted to a private hospital for treatment.

One of them namely Abid is said to be in precarious condition.

It is pertinent

to mention here that 35-year-old police constable identified as Khalid Mehmood and a passer-by, namely Ramzan, were gunned down and another passer-by Saeed Ahmed was injured in a firing incident at Street No. 26, Phase VI, in Khayaban-e-Bukhari late on Saturday night.

The deceased cop was posted at the Darakshan police station. He was shot dead when he was on intelligence duty.

The armed men who seemed drunk had managed to escape before a police team reached the site. They, however, left a white coloured SUV at the crime scene. The police also recovered four empty shells of a pistol from the crime scene and sent them to the forensic division of the Sindh Police.
