LARKANA: At least two people were killed and six others sustained wounds after a police officer ran his car over them in a Larkana neighborhood on Sunday night.
Police said the station house officer (SHO) of Waleed police station crashed his car into pedestrians. As a result two people were killed while six other sustained injures.
The deceased and injured were shifted to a nearby hospital. The cause of the crash is still not clear.
However, some reports said the policeman was under influence of drugs or alcohol.
DIG Larkana said SHO Ali Murtaza Chandio has been arrested and his vehicle taken into custody.
Chandio, who also suffered injuries, have been shifted to a hospital for medical attention, he added.
The identities of those killed and injured in the incident couldn’t be ascertained immediately.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, and Home Minister Sohail Anwar Sial took notice of the incident and summoned a report from the DIG Larkana.
