The recommendations were tabled by Congressman Ted Poe that sought to decrease disbursement to Pakistan under the fund. Poe tabled amendments to reduce $200 million in aid to Pakistan.
Another member of the US Congress recommended to end all of the aid given to Pakistan.
The Congress rejected recommendations with 336 votes cast in their opposition and only 84 in favor.
It is mandatory to note here that pro-India members of the US Congress often propose amendments seeking to impose sanctions, reduction in aid and other measures against Pakistan.
These recommendations are, however, rejected for failing to garner majority’s assent.
