Wasim Akram, Tendulkar and Sangakara are part of Mathews All Time XI

Sri Lanka’s limited overs skipper, Angelo Mathews has picked XI best players from around the World to form his All Time cricketing XI.

Mathews in a video shared by Lord’s cricket ground YouTube page, went with Indian little master Sachin Tendulkar and Srilankan veteran wicket-keeper batsman Kumar Sangakara, as openers for his All Time ideal XI.

“I would go with Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangkara as openers for my team,

“Sachin is the highest run-scorer of Test cricket while Sangakara will compliment him as opener and do wicket keeping as well for my team, Sanga has usually batted at number three but i would like him to open the batting,” 30-year-old All rounder said.

Srilanka’s former Test captain, Mathews put West Indian great Brian Lara on third slot in his team.

“Brian Lara is i think the best option to bat on number three as he is the best Caribbean batsman after Sir Garfield Sobers and Sir Vivian Richards,”

He found it difficult to choose a captain for his team but in the end went in favor of Former Sri Lankan Batsman Chaminda Vaas.

“It is really difficult to choose one to lead the side when you are lining up the best players from around the world because they all are the best on their respective places,” Mathews remarked.

Former Sri Lankan Right-handed batsman Mahela Jawerdena was his fifth pick.

He praised Mahela’s skills and said: “Mahela is among the best batsmen in the cricket history of Sri Lanka,”

Mathews declared South Africa’s Jacque Kallis as the best All rounder in the world hence kept him for this job in his idealized XI.

Two of the World’s best leg-spinners, Shane Warne and Muralitharan are also included in Mathew’s All time XI.

“Shane Warne and Muralitharan are the prominent names in the cricket history and especially in leg-spin department,” he acknowledged.

From Pakistan Mathews chosen Wasim Akram as a Left-arm bowling option for his team.

“Wasim was a threatening bowlers as far as i have heard from the batsmen whom have faced him,”

His last two men were Former Sri Lankan and Australian fast bowlers Chaminda Vaas and Glenn McGrath respectively.

“Chaminda is one of the best bowlers produced by Sri Lanka after Muralitharan and one who played 100 Test matches in Subcontinent.

“McGrath will be a good addition to my team’s pace battery, he was the best bowler that Australia has produced up to now,”
